NAS was established under the Office of the President, reporting to the Chairperson of the National AIDS Council, His Excellency, the President of the Republic, or his designee.

There is a Presidential Focal Person for HIV/AIDS to serve as liaison between the Office of the President and NAC/ NAS.   The Focal Person should be give regular access to the President to facilitate regular interaction and information relating to the national response between the NAC/NAS and the Office of the President. This should be stipulated in the envisaged NAC/NAS Act.

The structure of NAS was modeled to fit the components of the HIV/AIDS Rapid Response Project (HARRP) in 2001 which has undergone changes with the completion of the HARRP and the inception of the Global Fund Grant for HIV/AIDS....read more
